I have never had it and now with my 3rd pregnancy I am borderline. I would start watching what you eat very early so it will reduce your chances of having to take shots or anything. Here's the science of it: When you are diabetic, the cells in your body can't absorb the sugar either b/c you don't make any insulin or your body doesn't use the insulin efficiently. Insulin is the catalyst that allows your cells to absorb the sugar. What makes you tired is that the cells that aren't absorbing the sugar are starving from the lack of sugar and they put off toxins called Ketones. You can test the amount of Ketones your spilling by testing your urine. I don't think diabetes has to do with calf and shoulder pain.
